Tully MacKay-Tisbert is a guitarist, singer and songwriter originally from the Adirondack Mountains of Northern New York and currently based in Southern California. His music often transcends genre, blending heavier electric sounds with acoustic finger-style and folk while also exploring influences from around the world. Along with the guitar, he sometimes uses a Chinese zither called the guzheng in his compositions. Some of his music has been released under the stage name The Animus Ocean. Listening to his music one can hear the process of intellectual and spiritual exploration. As a climber and mountaineer always dreaming of adventures, many of his compositions are inspired by time in the mountains and originate from a depth of love for the wilderness. His most recent project, released in September 2018 and titled Tully MacKay-Tisbert: Vicissitudes, is a collection of finger-style instrumentals and that are a meditations on the First Noble Truth in Buddhism and explore music as a way to transcend suffering.
